Background Check
AYSO requires all volunteers to submit an annual background check. The process is the same for first time submissions and renewals.
You may renew a background check as soon as 3 months before your expiration date. The renewal is always extended one year from current expiration.
An AYSO account and volunteer application are required before beginning: Signing Up to Volunteer
Step 1
If you are a new volunteer, you will automatically receive a Sterling Volunteers e-mail after signing up.
If you do not receive the e-mail or to renew your background check, go to your Volunteer tab, select Risk Status and click the Renew & Update button. |

Step 2
Check for an e-mail from Sterling Volunteers. (Check your e-mail spam folder if you do not see it.)
Follow the instructions in the e-mail to submit your background check.

Region 2 covers the $25 fee, you do not need to pay the fee.
After submitting your background check it will take approximately 1 week to process and be reflected on your volunteer dashboard.

Background Check Issues
If you encounter problems with the submission process (website issues, not receiving an e-mail, expired link, etc.) please contact Sterling for support. Please make sure to check all spam folders for the e-mail beforehand.
