Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017
Effective, January 1, 2022, U.S. Soccer has mandated SafeSport training. AYSO complies with the federal SafeSport training requirements to include the U.S. Soccer Education and Learning Center as well as their Player Health and Safety Courses.
AYSO SafeSport
AYSO complies with the federal SafeSport training requirement.
The training is the full ~90 minute course in the first year (repeated every three years) followed by annual "refresher" courses which take ~30 minutes.
- To avoid issues, please register for SafeSport with the same name and e-mail as your Region 2 AYSO account.
- Youth referees are not required to complete this training.
An AYSO account and volunteer application are required before beginning: Signing Up to Volunteer
Step 1
From your Volunteer tab, select SafeSport and click the Renew & Update button to view the SafeSport training link.

Step 2
If taking the course for the first time, create an account with the Sign Up form.
Use the same name and e-mail address as your AYSO account.
Organization Member ID can be left blank. Enter AYSO for the Name of Sport or Community Organization.
If you are taking the annual refresher course, use the Login button to log into your account. If you have forgotten your login information do not create a new account. Use the Forgot Password? form. |

Step 3
Find and start the correct online course.
The first time course is SafeSport Trained - U.S. Soccer Federation.
The annual refresher course is Refresher 1: Recognizing and Reporting Misconduct or Refresh 2: Preventing Misconduct depending on how many times you have renewed.

Do not take a different course or one that requires you to pay!
The U.S. Center for SafeSport offers a variety of courses and only the above courses will fulfill your volunteer requirement.
The SafeSport course can be paused and resumed at a later date. (Note that the course will only resume at start of a lesson.)
Once completed the SafeSport website will have your completion certificate available to download. Within a few days your Volunteer dashboard will automatically update to show your SafeSport requirement as Verified.
***IMPORTANT*** DO NOT UPLOAD ANY FORMS TO YOUR AYSO ACCOUNT
SafeSport certification processes immediately but may take a couple of days to display on your account screen. Your administrator is able to see that you have completed your training.
DO NOT UPLOAD ANY FILES TO YOUR ACCOUNT. Doing so will prevent your SafeSport certificate from processing.
If your course does not show as verified after 72 hours, please contact Region 2's CVPA ([email protected]). Let them know about the issue and provide them with the completed SafeSport certificate. Do not upload the certificate to the website.
